Some work I done today

'What is the significance of this' is my favourite from today as I am liking the idea of an artwork that is making a comment about its self and encourages a critique of the work. Thought I'd throw in an image of a flesh tint stick at the end there something else that I am working on.

  1. As someone who works a lot with text I am far more drawn to your more open ended statements. Phrases like 'what happens now' & 'these things take time' are, I think, more successful than the ones directly about the work 'I could make this better...' (actually I prefer that phrase reduced down to just that) possibly because they are less defensive, they have a kind of fragile defiance as opposed to some kind of passive aggressive thing going on.

I do also like the painfully simple pun in the last pic tho.

Good stuff, bet you're loving having a studio again eh?

  2. Yeah thanks for the feedback Sam much appreciated! I have already made another sign that just says 'I could make this better' for the reason you suggested. I am really enjoying having a studio again I love being able to just get in make the work I feel like making that day. I have to agree with you on the more open statements being successful and I will probably use these for an Exhibition that is coming up in June at the studios. Speaking of that exhibition it will be pretty amusing since every other piece of work in it is going to be a painting.

I really like the idea of a plinth being up on bricks, I've been working with that idea a lot today.

I'll post up more about my thoughts about this tomorrow with some more photos.
