Modernist Crap

I was walking to the toilet as you do and I was rudely interrupted by a girl who shouts at me whilst shaking her fist! "I am disgusted with your Modernist crap!" as a review of the Paradies exhibition. I was sporting a 1950's American hairstyle at the time so maybe it's my fashion style that disgusts her!

Speaking of Paradies what are the arrangements for returning work, that's if you want the work back.

  1. You hear it all the time from people who don't know about art.. they seem to think that modernist means the same as contemporary

If it's ok could you keep hold of my work until I move up? Also could you send me photos, see my comment below

  2. Yeah I know what she meant, I just thought it was funny the way she decided to tell me. This person is worse than that though, turns out she thinks it is Modernist as we don't like to paint! Ah the joys of living in Falkirk.

Yeah no worries Sam your work can stay up until I move out of here in August I think it is. The photos below are Jens that's why I never commented on it.

  5. Ah sorry Sam I assumed that Jen's post about her idea was put up at the same time as the photos they belonged to her. Jen if you have any decent photographs on your phone post them up please and I can do something with all the good ones.

As for her Modernist crap I love how she just came out and completely attacked and disrespected the show that made laugh at her and go hahaha "Modernist!"

  6. In a way though isn't that exactly what you wanted. It'll be fun for a bit being the coolest 'modernist' in Falkirk but it's not quite the same as scandalising the Paris salon is it?

  7. Yeah it is what I wanted but I thought it would generate some sort of art related banter. "Why would someone show this, what are they trying to say? What does the audience get from this etc..."

The show was a success in the fact it had a grand total of about 6 people come in and take a look around, the rest stood at the window and decided nah, that is not for me! So why would someone put on an exhibition knowing that no one would attend (observe through a window)? The idea of it is very Modernist and it disgusts me! How dare one to draw a moustache on an owl!

Atleast the Salon had naked women!! :P

  8. Do you reckon we can use this as a title at some point?

  9. I think that we could use that as a title at some point. I am happy to host another exhibition in my studio space as I have it until August, would be good to have another show at the end of July however I think it would be a good idea to consider what work gets put in to the show. Even though the standard of work exhibited at Paradies was good I thought some of the work was too large mine included which over powered the smaller work due to the dimensions of the studio. Is there another space that we could use or is anyone currently in the process of finding a location for an exhibition? This could be something to work towards maybe fill out a proposal for an established gallery in Glasgow since we're all going to be based there. Just an idea as there is not enough exposure in Falkirk.
